Cat Power to Release Single Next Week

Earlier this year, Chan Marshall debuted an album’s worth of new Cat Power songs live on tour, not long after revealing that her first LP of original material since 2006’s The Greatest was in the works. Well, some good news just arrived. The record is “almost done,” she said tonight, adding even better news: “In 9 days [I] will have a song available for holiday charity download.”

Christmas Eve this year will bring a new recording (and video) with a list of charities to choose from as compensation. Here’s hoping the event will star one of those promising previews caught on tape back in February.
